1998 Genuine Camel Trophy Defender 110

This stunning Defender was the genuine 110 support vehicle as used by the American team during the 1998 Tierra Del Fuego CT event held in Chile and Argentina.

Owned by myself and purchased from Queens University, Belfast who interestingly received the vehicle from the Royal Geographical Society on the strict proviso that the vehicle be used on a number of overland research expeditions including Iceland and Norway, all expedition research findings had to be published.

Mechanically the vehicle is very sound having been maintained regardless of cost, the detailed full service history lists every maintenance operation ever carried out on the vehicle.

This vehicle has been painstakingly but sympathetically restored to a high standard. It retains its characteristics and feeling of heritage and the quality of work means it will be preserved for years to come.

Much of the restoration work carried out on the vehicle has been documented, this will be provided, along with the rest of the vehicles provenance I currently have in my possession.

Comes with the usual warn 8274 winch, full internal Safety Devices roll cage, twin fuel tanks, pioneer tools, winch accessory kit, snow chains, pair of Dixon Bate rigid tow bars, fuel/water cans, front/rear tank protector, defender tool kit, towing rope, jack/chocks etc.

Work carried out during restoration:

• Full body strip down, corrosion removed where present, vehicle professionally repainted
• Brownchurch roof rack stripped, shotblasted and painstakingly restored
• Roof rack powder coated to original spec
• Brush bar shot blasted and powder coated to original spec
• Front bumper shot blasted/painted
• Rear light protectors refurbished/powder coated
• Outer roll cage refurbished and repainted
• Rear cross member refurbished and repainted
• Warn winch stripped, painted, serviced – no wear found
• Warn fairlead refurbished and electroplated
• Front Dixon Bate tow bars refurbished and electroplated
• Entire set of brand new decals fitted as purchased from CTOC
• New Camel Plaques
• New winch decals
• New winch cable
• New windscreen and seal
• New CT 25 sticker plaque
• New roof rack timber
• Dixon Bate tow bar fitted to rear
• New fasteners used throughout
• Thatcham approved immobiliser fitted
• Vehicle tracker system fitted
• Recently waxoyled

In addition to the restoration work above the following mechanical components have been fitted to the defender recently:

• 4000 miles ago:  New turbo & EGR fitted , new alternator, new timing belt
• 1000 miles ago:  Water pump fitted, radiator fitted, rear silencer

To conclude, I feel that essentially that this vehicle has undergone a comprehensive restoration which has future proofed the vehicle, the restoration work along with the key mechanical components recently fitted should go some way in allaying any fears a potential purchaser may have regarding future costs.
